OPEN CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
Conveyor Magazine: Spectre // Spectrum
In the forthcoming issue of Conveyor, we will be searching for moments when the properties of a spectre, that which dissolves from our sight, and a spectrum, a continuum or perfection of vision, overlap and counterbalance each other. The trespassing of these apparitions between the material and immaterial worlds can be equally thrilling and terrifying, amorphous and yet revealing.
We’re looking for absorbing and unexpected sights—phantom or prismatic images, atmospheric phenomena, news from a secret admirer or an absent friend—things that remind us of sidelong glances, illusory dreams, primal discoveries, and ghosts in the machine. They can appear abruptly or be gently delivered; they can range from electrified vision to muted whisper, from stark revelations to those that bleed together.
Submit now for PPAC’s annual photography competition and exhibition!
Photofeast invites you to contribute to Parson’s annual Feast Week hosted in the photo studios at Parsons The New School for Art and Design. The week will take place from May 20-25 with several different events going on. All NYC photography programs are welcome to submit work in answer to the open call and attend any and all events of the week.
This is a chance to gather as a community of artists and photographers and share our ideas. Past shows have been a major success with students participating from Pratt, NYU Tisch, ICP, Cooper Union, SVA, Hunter College, FIT, and Laguardia Community College, all of which are invited again to submit their work.
If students wish to participate in Feast Week, but not necessarily submit work to be curated, there are more open events inviting all students to bring work for pin-up or trade (zine trade, pin-up show/print trade).
Online registration is now open for the Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival Portfolio Reviews. This is a great opportunity to have your work assessed and connect with fellow photographers and industry experts.
The registration fee is $200 for 4 reviews, and the deadline is April 15.
Our own Jonathan Taggart was the winner of the 2011 Portfolio Reviews Exhibition Award. Keen eyes will spot him in the above photo.

“These grants are designed to support continuation of a photographer’s personal project. This body of work may be of either a journalistic mission or purely personal artistic imperative. It was initiated by David Alan Harvey in 2008 and is awarded by the Magnum Foundation.
We offer this to support emerging photographers in our craft. All types of photographers. This is not a photojournalism grant, nor an art photographers grant, but could be garnered by either or both. We just want to support committed authored photography of any ilk. Please click here and see who has secured this grant in the past and who our jurors have been.
The deadline for entry will be May 5, 2013 (6pm EST). No extensions for any reason.

United Photo Industries, Photo District News(PDN), and Brooklyn Bridge Park welcome their newest partner, Flash Forward Festival, as they once again join forces to curate and produce THE FENCE 2013 – the annual summer-long outdoor photo exhibition that drew over 1 million visitors during its 10 week run at the picturesque Brooklyn Bridge Park in 2012. All images will be considered by an internationally renowned jury and resulting images will make up THE FENCE, which is expanding this year to a new city - creating TWO public photography installations!
